If you want long natural fingernails, there are a few things you can do to improve nail growth. Why have fake nails or acrylic nails when you can grow your own nails long? I use three techniques that give me beautiful, long and strong fingernails. It is quite easy to improve nail growth.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Take B Complex Vitamins. When I wanted to grow my hair long, I read an articles about a women who took B complex vitamins every day for a health problem only to discover that as side benefit was longer and stronger hair. So I purchased GNC Big 150 which has 150 mg of the essential B vitamins. I quickly noiticed that my hair and nails were were growing faster. Both hair and nails are made of keratin, a protein. GNC is the brand I use but I think any B complex formula will be healthful in nail care and nail growth.

  2. Step 2

Take fish oil capsules. I started taking fish oil because it is beneficial to eyesight and mental acuity among other things such as reducing cholesterol and treating painful joints. DHA is the omega three fatty acid that is proven to help with the eyes and brain. But once I started taking Carlson Super DHA Gems, I noticed my nails were growing faster and not breaking off they way they usually did. The fish oil seems to be improving mail growth and making my fingernails stronger as well. I did a lot of research to find a supplement with a high level of DHA. The Carlson formula has 500 mg. I don't know if any fish oil supplement will be just as effective or if it is the high dosage of DHA. I just know that my nails haven't been this long and strong in decades.

  3. Step 3

Moisturize your fingernails. This is easy to do. Every time you apply hand lotion , rub some into each fingernail. This massaging action also promotes nail growth because blood is circulating in the fingers. The lotion also softens the cuticles. And finally the lotions makes nails less dry and brittle so they are less likely to break once you have longer nails.
