How to Look Up Email Hoaxes and Urban Legends

There is nothing more irritating than getting emails about junk that is not true. I'm always amazed how many people forward the emails without checking to see if the info it true or not (almost ALWAYS not true). There are many sites out there that will let you know in a matter of minutes if the email you got is true or if it's an urban legend. Please check out the stories before you spread around bogus information!

Instructions

1. Visit Snopes.com -- Snopes is probably the most popular site to check urban legends. If you got an email that you think might be false info a quick search on Snopes should be all it takes to set the story straight. You probably don't need to go any further than Snopes but I'm still going to give you other sites to check out because some of the stuff on these sites is very fun and interesting to read!

2. Visit UrbanLegendsOnline.com -- Urban Legends Online is a very informative site for your typical urban legends but they go a bit beyond and cover superstitions too. They like the creepy stuff like hauntings, ghosts, deadly spiders. A fun site to visit if you like that sort of thing!

3. Visit TruthOrFiction.com -- Truth or Fiction is yet another very informative site which also has a list of the Top 20 stories for the current hour right there on their homepage. You can keep up to date on the latest hoaxes before you even get the emails from your friends!

4. Visit AmericanFolklore.com -- American Folklore is a really interesting site. It's not really a good source for email hoaxes but you will love reading all their stories about tall tales, myths and legends, ghost stories, heroes and villains, campfire stories and so much more! You will find stories you heard as a child. I'll never understand why people like to scare kids!
