Step 1
In order to prevent razor burn you need to start with the basics. You need good shaving tools. You need to make sure that your blade is still good and not dull. Dull razor blades will only irritate and snag your skin. Another tip is to make sure your razor is a triple blade razor. Triple blades tend to give you a closer shave. A good razor should also have a moisture strip to protect your skin and condition it at the same time.
-
Step 2
Once you have a good razor, you need to make sure that you condition your skin properly in order to have the best shave possible without creating skin irritation. It's always best to use shaving cream or shaving oil as part of your routine. This will coat and protect your skin. When you shave without these conditioners to your skin - your only rubbing that metal on your skin which instantly causes cuts, snags, and rashes.
-
Step 3
Now, the fun part - shaving! Once you have lathered up and are ready to shave, it's important that you follow the way your hair grows naturally. Say your shaving your legs - instead up going against the hair growth - go with it. This will prevent irritation and will allow you to get a closer shave at the same time.
-
Step 4
Never press down too hard. The blade will do it's job with or without pressure. With pressure will only allow your skin to become irritated. Also, it's important that you use shorter strokes instead of longer ones. Longer strokes while shaving can easily allow yourself to make mistakes and snag a bad spot.
-
Step 5
After you have shaved, you need to moisturize your skin again. It's best to use a thick lotion that contains Vitamin E and Aloe. The Aloe will instantly relieve burning skin or irritation that might have been caused by shaving.
