  • 1 1/2 cup butter or mayonnaise
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup thinly sliced green onions with tops (optional)
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 loaf of French bread, halved lengthwise
  • 1/3 cup minced fresh parsley

      Cut the bread lengthwise.

      In a medium sized mixing bowl, mix the butter or mayonnaise, cheese, onions, and garlic.

      Spread the garlic mixture over both halves of the bread. Sprinkle with the parsley and with paprika if you choose. Wrap each half in foil and refrigerate or freeze for 1 to 2 hours. Unwrap when ready to use and place on a baking sheet. You can leave the frozen loaf in the freezer for about 2 weeks.
