Things You'll Need:
- Children's umbrellas (available at most Dollar Stores)
- Acrylic craft paint
- Stencils and/or foam stamps
- Paint brushes
- Old shirts or aprons to protect the children's clothing
- Small disposable cups with water for washing brushes.
- Paper towel
-
Step 1
Set up the table. Put newspaper down to protect the surface, unless you don't mind having it painted.
Depending on the number of children, place an umbrella and paint brushes around the table. The stencils and foam stamps can be place around the table randomly.
You may also want to use masking tape to tape it down and keep the wind from blowing the paper away. -
Step 2
Set up paints. Pour out a couple tablespoons full of paint on paper plates. You can place two to three different colors on each plate and place them around the table so everyone can have a variety.
If windy, use the bottle to weigh down the plate or use some masking tape on the under side of the plate to keep it from blowing away. -
Step 3
Add Children. Next put coverups on the children to prevent them painting their clothing. Make sure everyone has an umbrella and paintbrush and let them go.
Note: Not only does acrylic paint adhere to umbrellas, it will also not come off childrens clothing. -
Step 4
Theme: If you have a theme for the umbrellas, make sure that your stencils and foam stamps match the theme. Go for a cheery and zany theme.
Examples - Polka dots, clouds, butterflies, and flowers.
