    Playing Sim City 2000

  1. Step 1

Turn on your computer or gaming console and install your Sim City 2000 software. If installation is not required, insert your game into the gaming console and allow the game to load. Choose the new game option. Give your city a name, and enter your name or gamer name as the honorary mayor of your city.

  2. Step 2

Begin your game and follow the instructions included in the tutorial. The tutorial should walk you through your entire first game, offering you tips as each new available building and management tool is unlocked.

  3. Step 3

Plan your city. Strategy is the key to succeeding in many simulation games. Often knowing what to expect will make developing a strategy easier. Plan the lay out of your city and section off the areas before beginning to build any buildings. Try to keep commercial, residential, and industrial building grouped together accordingly. Remember that you will need to place roads on your map.

  4. Step 4

Landscape the land you acquire at the beginning of the game to accommodate the buildings you will be placing across the region. Begin to place roads between the sections of each building type. Remember that later you will have to place power and water lines to keep your evolving buildings from becoming deserted. Begin to construct buildings, start with residences and buildings that will produce food.

  5. Step 5

Construct buildings, as your resources will allow. New buildings will be unlocked, so be sure to protect your tiny Sim people by constructing fire stations, police stations, and hospitals. Build colleges and churches to enrich the lives of your Sims.

  6. Step 6

Build subways, bus stations, and train stations to help your Sims commute from one part of town to another. Build parks, place trees, and landscape ponds and rivers to improve the mood of your Sims. Build airports, subways and roads to connect you to other cities; this will help your Sims to market their goods for other towns and receive goods from other towns.

  7. Step 7

Receive awards as the population or your city reaches certain levels. Rewards include a mayoral house, a city hall and military bases.

Tips & Warnings
  • Plan ahead and strategize, while you keep an eye on your funds and monitor the city newspaper to know what your Sims are thinking.
