How to Earn Microsoft Certification
Microsoft offers a certification program called Microsoft Certified Professional. The program is divided into business and technical certificates. Their business offerings include certification in various Microsoft Office programs and Microsoft Windows. Technology certifications include such things as applications development and network security among others. Obtaining Microsoft certification is one way to prove to employers that you possess mastery of a certain skill.

Decide what certification you want to earn. Some certifications, like the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) certification, require taking a series of tests. Other certifications require only one test. Choose the certification that best fits your needs and skills.

Study or take classes to prepare for the certification test. The amount of time you spend preparing depends on your skill level and the certification you choose.

Visit Prometric.com to locate a test center near you. All Microsoft exams are administered by Prometric testing centers and exams typically cost around $125 each.

Register for the certification exam at your nearest Prometric center.

Bring a valid (unexpired) photo ID to the testing center when you arrive to take your test. You will not be allowed to enter the testing room without it.

Tips & Warnings
Exams are administered by computer and usually take two to three hours to complete. Your test may consist of multiple choice questions, drag-and-drop questions and skill simulations.
Personal items are strictly forbidden in the testing rooms and you will be asked to turn out your pockets before entering to ensure you are not bringing unauthorized items with you.
