The program eMule is a P2P application. This means that it allows the user to connect directly with other users in order to exchange files, like videos and movies, between them. A "firewall" is something on your computer that helps to prevent outside parties from gaining access to the files on your computer. Unfortunately, this is exactly what you're trying to do with a program like eMule. So in order to use a firewall and also use eMule, you need to tell your firewall that eMule can pass through it safely.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

  1. Step 1

Go to the "Start" menu on your computer. Do this by clicking on the button labeled "Start" in the bottom left corner of Windows.

Select "Control panel." This will bring up various icons that control functions on your computer.

  3. Step 3

    Double-click on "Windows firewall."

Click on the "Add program" button if you don't see your eMule application in the list. This will bring up a browse window, which you can use to find eMule on your computer. Double-click on the eMule icon to add it.

Do this for any other eMule-type applications you have, and click on the check boxes next to their names. Click "OK" to finish. The eMule program should now be able to bypass your firewall safely.
