How to Open Klaus Kobec Watches

Klaus Kobec is a direct mail watch retailer in the United Kingdom that was founded in 1999. Although most watches have a snap on case back, Klaus Kobec watches and high end watches, such as Rolex, have a twist off back. You should remove the watch back to clean the watch, perform maintenance or change the watch battery. Be careful once the watch back is removed, because the internal mechanics of the watch can easily be damaged.

• watch case opener wrench towel

1. Put the Klaus Kobec face down on a towel so the face does not become scratched during this process.

2. Adjust the watch case opener wrench to fit around the outside of the case by making the prongs closer together or wider apart. Adjust the two top prongs by rolling the thumbwheel in the middle, and adjust the bottom prong by rotating the handle. The three prongs on the wrench must fit in three of the grooves around the case. You can purchase a watch case opener wrench at a hobby store or online (see Resources).

3. Twist the wrench counterclockwise one half turn. Remove the wrench from the case.

4. Use the tips of your fingers to completely loosen the case back and lift the back off of the watch.
