A contact list is one of the most important items that a serious Microsoft Outlook user possesses. The powerful features of Outlook make it easy to back up this data, save it to a file or send to another user. In order to do any of these, the user must know how to export his contacts. Follow these steps to export your contacts from Microsoft Outlook.

Instructions

      Open Outlook and click on "File" at the top left of the Outlook window.

      Select "Import and Export" from the list of options that appears on the drop-down menu.

      Click "Export to a file" in the window labeled "Import and Export Wizard." Then click "Next" (see graphic).

      Select the type of file to which you wish to export and click "Next."

      Choose your contacts personal folder from the list and click "Next."

    • 6

      Click "Browse" and choose the location that you want for the exported file. Click "Finish," and you have then exported your contacts.

Tips & Warnings

  • Your contacts can be exported to a Microsoft Excel file for better data manipulation by using the same Import and Export Wizard feature.
