Hair extensions are an ideal way to change your look without permanently changing your length or color. You can have hair as long as you want, any color of the rainbow, and with clip-on extensions you can do it all yourself at home, for far less than you'd pay at a salon.
Things You'll Need
- Clip-on hair extensions
- Hair ties
- Large to medium-size clips
Decide what kind of hair extensions you want. You might want bright colors like pink or green for a special occasion, or extensions that match your color for a more natural look. Next, choose the texture (Straight or curly?) and the length.
Brush out your hair so there are no tangles.
Use a comb to to straighten your hair a couple inches from the roots, pulling it taut. Hold up the extra hair above this point with a clip or tie.
Pick up the hair extension between your thumb and index finger, than place it half an inch from your scalp, securing it tightly. Make sure it is comfortable so you don't get pressure headaches. Keep moving along the line of your scalp, attaching more extensions to create fullness and length. You want the hair to look as look seamlessly attached to your scalp as possible, of course. Repeat this procedure around your entire head.
Once you're done, use a brush to comb down the extensions to get rid of bumps or kinks. This will help the extensions blend well.
