Yahoo Music is a service that allows users to listen to and purchase music from the Yahoo Music website. In the past, users could download a secondary program to download songs from Yahoo Music for free. Yahoo has since taken steps to prevent the downloading of Yahoo Music files for free. While this can be a hassle, saving Yahoo Music on your computer is still possible. Audacity will allow you to save Yahoo Music files on your computer and listen to them in your favorite media player.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Go to the Audacity homepage. Click the appropriate download link for your computer's operating system to download and install Audacity onto your computer.

  2. Step 2

Go to the Yahoo Music website. Search for the song you want to download. Do not begin playing the song yet, though.

  3. Step 3

Open Audacity. Click "View," then choose "Float Mixer Toolbar." You will see the small toolbar open at the top of the program.

  4. Step 4

Click the small drop box in the toolbar. Select "Stereo Mix." If you want to lock the toolbar, click "View." Select "Dock Mixer Toolbar."

  5. Step 5

Find the circular "Record" button at the top of Audacity. This is the button with the red circle in it. When you locate the "Record" button, click it.

  6. Step 6

Go back to the Yahoo Music page quickly and begin playing the song you want to download. Audacity will then capture the playing song. Allow the song to finish.

  7. Step 7

Go back to the Audacity screen and click the "Stop" button. You should see an audio animation (squiggly lines) in the middle of the window.

  8. Step 8

Click the spot where the audio animation ends. Then scroll sideways to the beginning of the animation. That portion of the animation will be highlighted.

  9. Step 9

Click "File." Choose "Export as WAV." A window will open.

  10. Step 10

Choose a folder for the song at the top of the window. You can then give the file a name by entering a word or phrase in the "File name" box. When you're done, click "Save" and the song will appear in the folder you selected.
