Technology has made document imaging a method to use for archiving and storing information such as pictures, data and more. Document imaging has reduced the need for paper. Businesses use this type of service to archive, store and transmit important data. We even use document imaging when we make electronic photo albums and videos for personal use. Many entrepreneurs are turning to document imaging as a professional business service. There are some key elements to keep in mind when it comes to setting a price for document imaging.

    Price the software, storage media and the technical equipment you will need to complete the document imaging project. Price the project slightly higher than you normally would if you are going to need to purchase additional items to complete the project.

  2. Step 2

    Estimate the amount of time it will require to complete the document imaging project. The more time required, the higher the price for the assignment.

  3. Step 3

    Research the current market prices for the type of document imaging requested. You want to keep your bid in a competitive range to secure more clients. If you are a new entrepreneur in the document imaging business, set your prices around 10 percent or 15 percent lower than your competitors.

  4. Step 4

    Increase the document imaging price if there are special skills required. For example, a client wants to watermark all of the images and convert to paint style prior to storing them on a data medium. You are worth the extra money because of the special skills you've learned.

  5. Step 5

    Estimate the cost of the job. Set a deposit amount required. Offer a specific guarantee on the work by proposing to return the deposit or correct any problems.
