When changing time zones, removing a laptop battery or replacing a desktop internal battery, it is important to remember to update the date and time. The main function of the date and time (other then letting the user know what time it is) is to record the time whenever you create or save files on the computer. Usually, when online this is done automatically, but if this does not work here are a few easy steps on how to update while online and offline. Please note, that daylight savings time is changed automatically and this works on both Microsoft Windows XP and Vista operating systems.
