The old fashioned flavor of Dreamsicles in a pie will please everyone at the table. This Dreamsicle Parfait Pie is cool, creamy, refreshing, and so simple to make. The perfect dessert for backyard BBQ's and Fourth of July celebrations.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pie Crust
  • 2 T. melted butter
  • 1 T. granulated sugar
  • 6 ounce pkg. orange jell-o
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1 quart vanilla ice cream
  • whipped cream or topping
  • candied orange slices
  • mint sprigs for garnish
  1. Step 1

Brush pie crust with melted butter and sprinkle lightly with granulated sugar, and bake. Allow pie crust to cool completely before filling.

  2. Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, dissolve orange jell-o in 2 cups boiling water. Add the vanilla ice cream and stir until it is completely melted and thoroughly mixed into the jell-o.

  3. Step 3

Pour filling into cooled pie crust. Cover and freeze for two hours. Some pie crusts will come with a plastic dome lid. This is perfect for this pie. You can also carefully cover it with foil.

  4. Step 4

Remove pie from freezer, top with whipped cream or whipped topping. Cover the pie and return it to the freezer.

  5. Step 5

Remove the pie from the freezer and set it out at room temperature for at least ten minutes before serving. Garnish each slice with a candied orange slice and a few mint leaves. Enjoy!
