Certified pharmacy technicians are required to obtain at least 20 clock hours of continuing education every two years in order to be re-certified. Confirm the acceptance of any continuing education courses with your certification agency before you register. Some will not be accepted because they are not accredited or otherwise approved.

      Register for a college course in life sciences or math. Successful completion of one of these courses can count for up to 15 of your 20 clock hours.

      Obtain the remainder of your clock hours via online continuing education. This option is not offered through a college. It is offered through a professional association like the National Pharmacy Technician Association.

      Seek out pharmacy technician continuing education vendors. These companies sell continuing education courses and provide a certification if you successfully fulfill the requirements of the course.
