Disinfect your yoga mat with isopropyl alcohol. Pour some isopropyl alcohol into a small spray bottle and liberally spray your yoga mat. The alcohol will kill any germs on contact while eliminating sweaty odors. Let your yoga mat dry for a few hours before using it.

Soak your yoga mat in apple cider vinegar solution. The high acidity of the vinegar will destroy the microorganisms accumulated from constant use. Add 2 cups apple cider vinegar to 4 gallons water in a basin. This will also make your yoga mat smell new and clean.

Wipe your yoga mat with a wet cloth soaked with 2 tbsp. antibacterial dish-washing liquid. This will remove the dirt and sweat and kill bacteria on your mat. Allow your yoga mat to dry for several hours before using it again.

Drop your yoga mat in the washing machine with detergent, using the cold-water settings. The powerful spinning action of your washing machine will thoroughly clean your yoga mat. Hang your yoga mat to air-dry. Do not put your mat in the dryer to avoid shrinkage.
