How to Have a Raffle
A raffle is an easy way for organizations to raise money. They are popular with schools and charity groups because they can be planned quickly and they are a successful fundraiser. A 50/50 raffle is the most common raffle choice; it requires fewer volunteer organizers and allows a maximum profit. With a 50/50 raffle, the winner receives half the money raised by the sale of the tickets.

1
Purchase rolls of raffle tickets from a local party or office supply store. Be sure the tickets are the type that have two parts, a stub to keep for the drawing and one to give to the person purchasing the raffle tickets.
-
2
Decide when and where the drawing will be held. A public meeting is the best place to draw the winning ticket.

3
Set the price of the raffle ticket. Keep the price an even amount. Offer the purchasers a deal for buying more tickets. For example, the tickets can be priced $2 each or three tickets for $5. Many 50/50 raffle tickets begin at 50 cents.
-
4
Sell the tickets. Ask friends, neighbors and coworkers if they would like to purchase raffle tickets. Have the person fill out their information on the ticket stub so they can be contacted if they are the winner.
-
5
Collect stubs from all the tickets that were sold and place them in a large container.
-
6
Accept donations from individuals who do not wish to participate in the raffle but want to contribute to the fundraiser.
-
7
Count the money collected on ticket sales and donations. Split the sum in half to create the winning raffle prize amount.
-
8
Have someone choose the winning ticket. It is best if this person does not have the ability to win the raffle.
-
9
Announce the winner and deliver the prize money.
