Elegant envelopes add that special finishing touch to party, wedding and social event invitations. They are also fitting for thank you or greeting cards. You can make fancy envelopes to go with your hand-made invitations and cards. The beautiful paper that is available in craft and stationary stores will give you the elegant envelope material needed for this project.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Paper Foil paper Envelope template Adhesive Double sided tape (optional) Paper punch Bone folder
  1. Step 1

Purchase an envelope template from a craft, scrapbooking or online store in the card making department. Place envelope template on to floral, patterned, plain or vellum paper.

  2. Step 2

Trace and cut out the envelope pattern from the fancy paper. Repeat with a second piece of plain or foil paper if you want to make a liner for the envelope.

  3. Step 3

Cut out the envelope paper. Cut the liner section one quarter inch smaller all the way around the entire piece.

  4. Step 4

Paper punch the edge of the flap area of the main envelope for a lacy or scallop effect.

  5. Step 5

Adhere the edges of the liner to the wrong side (interior) of the envelope. You can use double-sided tape for this.

  6. Step 6

Score all fold lines of the envelope twice with a bone folder or craft stick.

  7. Step 7

Fold all of the scored lines using the bone folder.

  8. Step 8

Adhere the side panels and bottom flap in place according to template directions.

Tips & Warnings
  • Double-sided paper is a perfect solution for a fancy envelope. No lining needed.
  • Test adhesive on a scrap of the paper you are using to make sure it won't show through or warp the paper.
