How to Install Java Virtual

Java Virtual Machine is an application installed on your computer that allows you to work in a safe environment over the Internet. Several websites use Java for interactive applications. The software is a Sun Microsystems' platform, but it runs on Windows computers and Internet Explorer browsers. Older computers might need to have Java Virtual Machine installed for some online applications to work.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    The Java Virtual Machine executable is found on Java.com. Click your operating system and the "Download" button on the website.

  2. Step 2

    Click the "Install" button. When the browser downloads the file, a prompt appears asking if you want to install or download the file. Click the "Install" button to begin the installation.

  3. Step 3

    Click "Edit Options." A pop-up appears warning you of the install over the Web. Click "Edit Options" and choose "Allow Free Java Download."

  4. Step 4

    Agree to the licensing agreement by clicking "I agree" if you agree to the terms of usage.

  5. Step 5

    Click the "Install" button to begin the installation process.

  6. Step 6

    Restart the browser for the installation to take effect.
