How to Clean a Mitsubishi Rear Projection TV

Fingerprints, dust and smudges can collect over time, clouding the picture of your TV. Dirty speakers and vents make the sound less clear. Clean your Mitsubishi rear projection TV at least once a week to maintain the quality of the picture and sound. Cleaning the television will also protect the machine from damage due to collected dust.

Instructions

    • 1

Spray two squirts of the kitchen cleaner on the TV screen. Fantastic or Lysol kitchen cleaner can be used for this task. Use one cloth to wash the screen. Begin at the top and move downward in rows.

    • 2

Dampen the other cloth in warm water. Wring it out completely as excess moisture may damage the television. Wipe the screen with the cloth. Use the same technique as in Step 1.

    • 3

Use the damp cloth to clean the base of the television. Spray half of a squirt of kitchen cleaner onto the rag. Rub the cleaner into the rag. Wipe around the small base stand as well as the frame of the TV screen.

    • 4

Dry the base and screen with the hand towel. Remove all moisture from these parts. If smudges or fingerprints remain, clean the TV again.

    • 5

Dust the back of the television with a hand towel or duster. Remove all debris and collected dust. If any vents or small holes are present on the back, clean these thoroughly.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not use liquid to clean the back of the TV. Damage can occur if liquid seeps into the television. If cleaner or water trickles into the TV, turn the television off and unplug it immediately. Allow it to dry for about 24 hours. This may or may not save the television, depending on the amount of liquid that seeped inside and which parts the fluid touched inside the television.
