Instructions

    • 1

If you are feeling depressed or anxious, or if you're experiencing insomnia, use clary sage in an essential oil diffuser, either candlelit or electric. Add 5 to 7 drops of clary sage oil, then light the candle or turn on the diffuser. The heat will release the scent of clary sage.

    • 2

Add a few drops of clary sage oil to an unscented body oil or unscented lotion and rub it into stiff muscles to help relieve tension.

    • 3

When you are in labor, rub clary sage essential oil into your skin or sprinkle it on your bedding. Even if the scent doesn't exactly alleviate the pain, it will reduce your stress level and help relax the muscles that aren't necessary for delivery.

    • 4

To help alleviate premenstrual symptoms or menstrual cramps, sprinkle a few drops of clary sage oil into a warm bath. The warm water will help your skin absorb the oil's healing properties.

    • 5

Blend clary sage oil with an equal part of a floral oil, such as ylang ylang or jasmine. Wear it as a perfume that both relaxes and invigorates you and those around you.

    • 6

If you want to recall your dreams, place a couple of drops of clary sage oil on a handkerchief and tuck it into your pillowcase before going to sleep.

Tips & Warnings

  • Though clary sage essential oil is safe to use when you're in labor, it is not recommended during the rest of your pregnancy.
