Things You'll Need:
- Lightweight cardboard Ruler Pencil Scissors Small amount of vinyl Ink pen Masking tape 1/2-inch round dot Velcro Household cement
-
Step 1
Measure and trace a 3-inch square on the lightweight cardboard. Draw a 3/4-inch-by-1 1/4-inch rectangle that is attached to one side of the square. Position the width of the rectangle 1/2 inch from the top left side and extending up for the length. Curve the corners where the rectangle meets the square and the top of the rectangle. Cut the pattern out. This is the front of your phone holder.
-
Step 2
Measure and trace a 3-inch-wide-by-5 1/4-inch-long rectangle on the lightweight card board. Cut the rectangle out. Measure and trace a 3/4-inch-wide-by-3 1/2-inch-long rectangle strip on the light weight cardboard. Cut the strip out. Place the large rectangle on your work space with the phone holder front pattern on top. Match the bottom 3-inch sides. Insert 1/2-inch of the end on the 5 1/4-inch-long strip behind the top center of the large rectangle. Curl the top of the strip down and shift the strip to cover the tab at the top of the phone-holder front by 1/2 inch.
-
Step 3
Uncurl the tab, making sure to not shift the angle of the strip. Tape the strip to the rectangle. Place the taped rectangle and strip on the lightweight cardboard and trace around it. Discard the taped piece. Curve the corners on the traced piece where the strip meets the rectangle and the top of the strip. Cut the pattern out. This is the back to your phone holder.
-
Step 4
Place the two pattern pieces together, making sure the front tab lines up with the back tab. Mark an "X" on the front of the front phone holder pattern piece. Turn the layered pattern pieces over and mark an "X" on the back of the back phone holder pattern piece. Lay the vinyl wrong side up on your work space. Place the pattern pieces on the vinyl with the "X" side down. Draw around the pattern pieces with an ink pen. Cut the pieces out.
-
Step 5
Sew a zig-zag stitch along the top edge and around the tab on the phone-holder front. Roll two pieces of masking tape and place on the back of the front phone-holder piece. Match the back of the phone holder piece over the front piece. The masking tape will hold the pieces in place. Sew a zig zag stitch around the outside edge of the phone holder and the back tab.
-
Step 6
Fold the back tab over the front tab 1/2 inch. Mark between the tabs with an ink pen on each phone-holder piece. Pull the pieces of the Velcro circle apart and apply household cement to the backs. Place the Velcro circles on the marks between the tabs and allow to dry. Loop the tabs around your belt and attach with the Velcro dots.
