Peacock feathers are extraordinarily beautiful and have been used for millenia by people to add flare and color to their lives. Collected after they are shed from a peacock, these feathers are a collection of jeweled-toned blues, greens, and purples that create a magical look when combined. Peacock feathers can be found at any arts-and-crafts supply store or at your local zoo. Here are a few of the numerous ways you can use peacock feathers.

  1. Step 1

    Use peacock feathers to add accent and flare to your home. Find a medium-to-large floor vase and fill it with peacock feathers. you will need quite a few feathers to adequately fill the vase, or you can add eucalyptus branches or twigs to fill in the blank areas. You can add accent colors similar to the jewel-tones in the peacock feathers around the rooms of your house to complement the feathers.

    Create a peacock Halloween costume using peacock feathers. Place a piece of cardboard between the layers of the skirt you want to use in your costume. Place a line of craft glue along the waistband of the skirt, and press a few peacock feathers onto the glue. Hold the feathers in place until the glue sets. Repeat this process until you have created a thick peacock tail.

    Create a peacock-feather Mardi Gras mask. Apply a thin layer of craft glue to a blank face mask, which can be purchased at any craft store. Using scissors, trim the long ends off of the peacock feathers, leaving only the colorful tips. Layer the peacock feather ends on the face mask, creating a beautifully textured look. Allow the glue to dry completely before wearing the mask.
