It's easy to change your address with the U.S. Postal Service. As of 2009, the post office prefers you submit change of address forms online for easier processing. Before you complete the form, make sure to have the things you need (from the list above) at hand.

Complete the online form. Currently the U.S. Postal Service requires a nominal credit card charge of $1.00 to ensure safe transmittal and storage of your personal information. The billing address on the credit card must match either the address you are moving from or the address you are moving to. If you are unwilling or unable to complete the form online, see Step 4.

Print out a copy for your records.

To complete the transaction in print, simply print the online form and complete. You can hand it in at your local post office or mail it in. This will take longer than the online process.

If you prefer to submit change of address forms to the post office via telephone, you can do so by calling 1-800-ASK-USPS and following the prompts. A credit card is required for this option, also.
