How to Regrout Ceramic Tile
The grout lines of ceramic tile may begin to crack or become discolored and unattractive over time. The cause of the cracking or discoloration should be determined and remedied before grout is replaced to prevent additional damage. Once that has been done, the grout can be removed and new grout applied to give the ceramic tile a like-new appearance. Replacing grout does not take a high level of skill, but it is a messy and time-consuming job. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Remove the old grout from the ceramic tile with a grout saw or a utility knife to loosen and remove the grout with a screwdriver.
-
2
Mix the grout according the package directions and scoop it into a grout bag. Grout bags are similar in appearance to pastry bags and are available at home improvement stores. Apply the new grout directly between the ceramic tiles with the grout bag.

3
Wipe the tiles and the new grout lines with a damp sponge to smooth the grout and ensure that the lines are even. Rinse the sponge often in a bucket of clean water and use a circular motion when wiping the ceramic tiles and grout to avoid removing chunks of grout from the new grout lines.

4
Allow the new grout to dry for about 30 minutes before wiping the ceramic tiles clean with a dry cloth. Let the grout dry for the amount of time indicated on the directions of the grout you are using, and then apply the recommended grout sealer per the grout manufacturer's directions.
