Things You'll Need:
- drivers permit
- responsible driving school or driver to practice with
-
Step 1
Hopefully, you have a patient parent, uncle, aunt or trusted close friend who is eager to help you learn actual driving experience behind the wheel. You really need to have a lot of real road driving to learn the rules and ways of the road. The licensed driver who teaches you has to be at least 18 years old with a current drivers license and for your own sake you want a responsible, defensive driver to learn from.
-
Step 2
If you are really nervous being behind the wheel, mention that and start off in parking lots or in a park at a time when very few kids or other people are around. Better yet start off in an area in general where very few people are around. Get a feel for driving and getting used the car you are going to use.

Step 3
Another way to gain behind the wheel driving experience is to take advantage of a drivers course at your school if your school offers it. Sears also offers a driving course for teens and even adults. The Sears driving course also lowers your drivers insurance rate after you get your drivers license.

Step 4
One of the most important things about learning to driving is gaining the confidence to know that you will be a responsible driver. With lots of driving practice you'll be ready to go for that behind the wheel test.
