  • willingness to hit pavement and be humble
  1. Step 1

The best way to look for these jobs is with a computer. Sunday classifieds are sufficient, but remember, many papers have free access to their classifieds online toaday, so why pay for the Sunday paper? Job sites like Hotjobs from yahoo, or even craigs list, are good places to start when looking for part time jobs.

If you are a skilled computer tech "geek" like character, why not start a small part time business repairing computers. Everybody has a PC and sooner or later they have a problem or virus that requires that special skill you may have. You can charge $30 per hour or more.

Babysitting or becoming a nanny or live-in nanny is also a great way to make money. If you have experience and are mature, you can market yourself well just by word of mouth or even using bulletin boards in public places. You can also put free posts for your services on Crag's List. If you really want to boost your selling power, take a CPR and first aid course at the Red Cross. They also offer a certificate class for babysitting. Hourly rate can exceed $12 per hour.

  4. Step 4

The drop out rate for high school students is almost 50% in some parts of the country. Additionally, many college students are struggling to meet their GPA expectations. Have some educational background? Become a tutor. Make your own hours and charge over $10 per hour.

If you have a college degree why not consider being a substitute teacher. Find out where you have to apply in your school district. You can make you own schedule availability. For 6 hours work your pay can range from $70 to $140 per day! Not bad for a half day's work.

Health care jobs account for a piece of the job market that will exceed 30% of our workforce. Agencies in all communities throughout the country are seeking mature individuals that are teachable. These agencies supply the training and clients. Personal care aides, home health care assistants, can average $9-$14.

Waiting tables or working at a banquet house part time can also help with the income stream. Fine dining servers do not make as much as they use to, but banquet servers and servers in chain restaurants buffet houses do well with tips with volume.
