Get Listed on the Do Not Call List

The phone rings, "Hello." There is a brief pause and then you hear the person on the other end, "May I speak to the head of household?" Without a second thought you proclaim, "I'm not interested." and hang up the phone. It's those annoying telemarketers that you wish would stop bothering you. To prevent these calls you can get your number listed on the Do Not Call List otherwise known as the National Do Not Call Registry.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

First you will need to register with the official website set up by the government. The website address is: http://www.donotcall.gov
    Once there, click on "register".

  2. Step 2

Enter up to three telephone numbers, including area codes, to this list. You can include your home number as well as your cell phone number.

  3. Step 3

Enter your email address. After doing so you will receive an email from the National Do Not Call Registry. You will need to respond to this email in order to activate the numbers you had supplied for the list.

  4. Step 4

Repeat the steps above every five years. The Do Not Call List is purged of any number that had been listed more than five years from the current date.

Tips & Warnings
  • Charities, political groups, and a business with which you have conducted business may call you for up to 18 months after your last purchase.
