Things You'll Need:
- math flashcards
-
Step 1
Squat and Score: Divide the class into 2 teams. Line them up on opposite sides of the room. Have the first 2 players come to the board and face the teacher. The teacher shows a flashcard to the students and says "go". The first student to write the correct answer and squat down gets 2 points. If the other student has the correct answer, he receives 1 point.
-
Step 2
Cornered: Have 4 students stand in the same corner. Show a math fact to the students. The first person to answer moves to the next corner. Play continues until 1 student makes it back around to the beginning corner.
-
Step 3
Beat the clock: Let each student answer one flashcard as quickly as possible. Time the students to see how long it takes to go around the room. Record the time on the board. Make it a class goal to beat the record each time the game is played.
-
Step 4
Secret code: Show 3 flashcards in a row. The students are to determine the answers, and remember them in order. After showing all three cards, call on a student to give the secret code. The secret code is the 3 answers to the flashcards given in the proper order.
-
Step 5
Chair game: Select one student to sit in a chair facing the class, while a second student stands behind him. Show a flashcard to the students. The student who answers first gets to sit in the chair and another challenger is called.
-
Step 6
All Aboard: Have your students stand in a single file line. Give 1 student a hole puncher, and have him designated as the conductor. Give the "passengers" each a paper ticket. Call out a math fact to the first student in line. If he answers correctly, the conductor punches his ticket. Continue with each student.
