Things You'll Need:
- ground beef
- quick oats
- spices
-
Step 1
Measure out 1 ½ teaspoons of quick oats for each burger you are grilling. Place the oats into a blender or food processor and chop them briefly until you reach an oat powder consistency.
-
Step 2
Mix the ground beef with the oats, pepper, steak seasoning, or your own special blend of spices. Mix the burger lightly and work it as little as possible. The key to moist and juicy burgers is to not overwork the meat.
-
Step 3
Lightly shape the ground beef mixture into hamburger patties that are ½ inch thick.
-
Step 4
Place the burgers on the grill over medium heat or ash-covered coals, and grill the burgers uncovered for 10 to 13 minutes. Turn the burger patties occasionally, but do not press or pierce the burgers because you will loose the tasty juices that are a key component in perfect burgers.
-
Step 5
Insert a thermometer into one of the burger patties to check the temperature. Ground beef burgers should be cooked to 160 degrees Fahrenheit.
-
Step 6
Season the burgers with salt as you remove them from the grill. Do not salt the hamburger patties before cooking because the salt will draw the moisture out of the patty.
-
Step 7
Toast some hamburger buns on the grill and enjoy your perfectly grilled burgers!
