Things You'll Need:
- 1 to 2 big pieces of ginger root
- 1 gallon of water
- a bar of yellow sugar but you only need 1 strip (found in Asian Markets)
- 14 oz of firm tofu
-
Step 1
Peel the skin of the ginger and slice.
-
Step 2
Boil a gallon of water in low.
-
Step 3
When the water starts boiling, drop the sliced ginger into the pot.
-
Step 4
Drop a strip of yellow sugar into the pot. Note: Yellow sugar is used in jams, chutneys and homemade brewed beers. If you are unable to find the yellow sugar, use honey instead. The amount of honey depends on your desired taste.
-
Step 5
Drop the cubed tofu.
-
Step 6
Boil for 2 hours.
-
Step 7
Scoop ginger soup into a bowl and sip it like soup. You will notice that your throat starts to clear up and stop coughing.

on 8/16/2009 Is this how ginger tea is made? We use ginger tea for nausea, especially when my child has a migraine, so I will take your advice and try it for sore throat, as well. Thanks!
