Things You'll Need:
- Royal Icing
- Mini M&M'S
- Sprinkle
-
Step 1
Check out my articles How to Make Soft Gingerbread Cookies and How to Make Glossy Royal Icing.
To apply the icing, turn the cookie upside down, and carefully dip the front into a bowl of icing. Use a spoon to even out the icing. -
Step 2
The Classic Gingerbread Man:
Any color can be used, although white looks best. Using mini M&M'S, add details such as eyes, nose, mouth, buttons, or even clothes. Children seem to enjoy decorating this cookie the best. -
Step 3
Ornamental Ball:
Yellow, blue, or red icing give this cookie a festive look. Use mini M&M'S to make designs. Some decorators like to cover the cookie in M&M'S, while others like to use only several per cookie. -
Step 4
Christmas Tree:
Green is the only option for this cookie. For the stump, you could use brown icing, but brown mini M&M'S also look great. Decorate the tree with either with one color M&M or several. -
Step 5
Stocking:
One option for this cookie is red for the base with a white trim around the top. Mini M&M's can be used a number of ways for this cookie. Use your imagination =] -
Step 6
Star:
Yellow makes this cookie shine. Any color M&M'S can be put on the tips of the star or in the center. Add some glittery sprinkles to make your star sparkle.

on 10/5/2009 Thanks for sharing these tips and ideas! One of my fondest childhood memories was eating my grandmother's decorated gingerbread men that she would send to our family every year.
