This recipe tells you how to make a simple salt dough that can be reused and kept in the refrigerator or can be air-dryed.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 Tbsp oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  1. Step 1

First, put the flour, oil, water, salt, and cream of tartar into a large saucepan and put the saucepan on the stove.

  2. Step 2

Continually stir the ingredients with a spoon over medium heat. Keep stirring to prevent the mixture from burning and sticking.

  3. Step 3

When the mixture thickens remove the pan from the stove. It might take some time before the mixture is no longer runny but starts to stick together. That's fine, just be patient.

  4. Step 4

Continue stirring the mixture in the pan while it is off of the stove. It should be very sticky now.

  5. Step 5

Pour the mixture onto a lightly floured surface.

  6. Step 6

Knead the dough until it cools. You can add more flour to the dough if it feels too sticky. You are done once you have a smooth dough that is not too sticky to the touch.
