How to Use BIOTICS
Within the fictional universe of Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 for Xbox 360, biotics are the equivalent of magic. They are superhuman capabilities that enable characters to manipulate the environment--including objects and opponents--in a variety of ways. While it's possible to play through mass effect without ever using biotics, utilizing them makes the experience more rewarding.

1
Start a new campaign and proceed to the character creation screen. Make sure your character belongs to one of the following classes: vanguard, adept or sentinel. Vanguard would be the best choice, because these characters can use biotics as well as advanced combat skills.
-
2
Press and hold the RB--right button--on the controller while playing. This is the right shoulder button. Doing so will bring up a wheel display of all the biotics available to you. Choose the one you want to use by rotating the right stick. Biotics include warp, throw, singularity, stasis, barrier, and lift.
They're self-explanatory. For example, stasis freezes enemies, while barrier creates a protective shield. Biotics are only useful during combat.

-
3
Highlight the target of your biotic attack or application with the right stick, and release the RB. This will cause the biotic effect to engage.
-
4
Order your allies in the game to use their own biotic skills using the same method--hold the RB, rotate with the left stick. Each member of your party has a segment of the wheel display, depicting the capabilities at their disposal. Choose your party well--it makes a difference.
-
5
Focus on two characters specifically if you want to deploy biotics often--Liara T'Soni and Kaiden Alenko. They have the most capability in biotic combat. Mercenary Urdnot Wrex also has above average biotic prowess, and it is a formidable fighter to boot.
-
6
Make sure to use biotics often if going for the various achievements associated with the phenomenon. For example, you get points for using throw, stasis and warp 75 times each. This will take you a while.

Tips & Warnings
Ordering other character to use biotics doesn't count towards achievements--it has to be your own character that does it. Even if left completely to their own devices, non player characters will still use biotics from time to time during combat.
