How to Stop Print-to-File

Many Windows applications have a useful print feature which allows the user to select which printer to use, or whether or not to print to a file. The print to file feature can become a nuisance when the user wishes to simply click on the printer icon and use a physical printer, but the print to file feature is enabled.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Instructions

1. Open the file to be printed and click on the "Print" icon (not QuickPrint). A Print Window will open.

2. Locate the small box located near the middle of the Print Window that is labeled "Print to File."

3. Use your mouse to remove the check mark from this box by clicking on it.

4. Select the physical printer to which you wish the file to print.

5. Click the "Print" button and close the Print Window. Your print to file feature has now been disabled, and the file will print on your printer.
