1
Boot the live CD. Insert the CD into your CD drive and restart the computer. Knoppix should boot after the bios screen.
-
2
Launch the installer. It should in the menu under "System Tools," named "Knoppix HD Install" (see picture).
Can't find the installer in the menu? Open a Terminal by clicking the terminal icon on the taskbar and type "knoppix-installer." This will launch the graphical Knoppix installer, regardless of which version of Knoppix you're using. -
-
3
Partition your hard drive. If you are installing Knoppix as the only operating system, feel free to tell the computer to use the entire drive. Otherwise, click "launch partitioner" to tell Knoppix how to arrange your hard drive.
-
4
Install Knoppix. The installation application will ask you whether you want the "Debian" installation or the "Knoppix" installation. The "Debian" installation will give you a flexible Linux installation you can add mulitple users to, while the "Knoppix" installation does not allow multiple users, and generally works exactly like the Live CD. The Knoppix wiki recommends the "Debian" installation for its reliability.

5
