How to Paint Faux Finishes
Faux finishing is the process of painting something, like a wall, to look like something else. Faux finishing techniques include color-washing and adding texture using different kinds of materials, like sponges and crinkled paper. Faux finishing is currently the favorite decorating technique of many interior designers. Faux finishing can transform a wall from a simple paint color into something with simulated dimension. The best part is that if you make a mistake, you can leave it as it is (if it's not too bad) or simply go back over the mistake. Does this Spark an idea?

Apply the glaze to the wall using the proper accessories for the faux technique that you have chosen. For example, the sponging method will use sponges, while the stippling method will use a wire brush or hair comb. You might want to practice first on a piece of wood.
