Wash clothing, slip covers and rugs in your washing machine with an enzyme cleaner. Enzyme cleaners are available with the cleaning products in stores or can be purchased at pet stores.

    • 2

Apply peroxide directly to the stain with an eyedropper if the stain remains or is not completely faded. Apply a couple of drops of ammonia directly on top of the peroxide.

    • 3

Rinse thoroughly with clean water. Launder a second time with the enzyme cleaner to remove the last vestiges of the stain.

    Carpet and Upholstery

    • 4

Mix 1 tbsp. hand-washing soap with 2 cups cold water for upholstery or 1 tbsp. soap and 1 tbsp. vinegar with 2 cups of warm water for carpet.

    • 5

Blot the stain with a clean cloth until most of the stain is absorbed. Rewet the cloth in the cleaning solution and blot until you can't remove any more of the stain.

    • 6

Apply peroxide with the eyedropper to cover any remaining stain. Add 1 to 2 drops of ammonia on top of the peroxide.

    • 7

Blot with a cloth dipped in cold water to remove the rest of the stain.

Tips & Warnings

  • Oxygenated bleach can be substituted for the ammonia and peroxide.

  • Test the cleaning solution in a hidden area to make sure it doesn't damage the fabric.
