Things You'll Need:
- Tent (preferably with a waterproof cover) Waterproof tarp
-
Step 1
Choose your setup location carefully. You need to make sure the area is level and on fairly high ground, away from water sources. You don't want to wake up in a foot of water.
-
Step 2
Put down your tarp. It will help keep dew and other moisture from soaking into the tent and making you wet and cold.
-
Step 3
Put the tent bars together to make the frame. If your tent has flexible tent bars, they might be built into the fabric, which makes your setup that much easier. (If you have this kind, skip to step 5.)
-
Step 4
Locate the proper end inside the tent that hold the tent bars and form the shape of your tent.
-
Step 5
Insert each end of the tent onto the bars, making sure you do only one side at a time. You may have to slide the bars through loops at the top of the tent, depending on the type of tent that you have.
-
Step 6
Set your tent so that it faces the direction you prefer.
-
Step 7
Attach the removable waterproof cover on the top of your tent. Some tents have built-in covers that will unsnap or unzip on three sides while still remaining attached to the tent on the fourth side.
