Any good fisherman knows how to tie a polymer knot. This knot is perfect for fishing line and is one of the most-reliable methods of tying on a hook. Polymer knots only get tighter as the tug between fish and fisher gets stronger. If you've had trouble losing hooks and bait to fish, it's time to upgrade your knot.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fishing line Scissors Pliers Knife
  1. Step 1

Wet the line. This will make your knot tighter.

  2. Step 2

Thread the fishing line through the hook once, and then thread the end back the way it came, leaving a 4-inch loop. Wrap the loop end around the doubled line on the other side and tie an overhand knot.

  3. Step 3

Push the hook through the loop. Pull both ends of the string and the hook to tighten the hook. Cut off excess line.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use fish hook guards if you are concerned about being cut by the hook. Do not let children handle hooks without supervision.
