How to Remove Printers & Faxes from Your Start Menu

The Windows "Start" menu is meant to be a useful starting point for finding the Windows services and other programs you are likely to use. Windows comes configured with certain standard items on the "Start" menu, including "My Computer," "Recently Opened Documents" and "Printers and Faxes." Removing an item from the "Start" menu is a simple procedure.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Click the "Start" button.

  2. Step 2

    Right click on an empty area in the "Start" taskbar and select "Properties."

  3. Step 3

    Click "Start" from the taskbar and the "Start Menu Properties" window. Select "Customize." The "Customize Start Menu" window will open.

  4. Step 4

    Under "Start Menu Items," uncheck the box next to "Printers and Faxes."

  5. Step 5

    Click "OK" on the dialog boxes to close them. "Printers and Faxes" will no longer be displayed in the "Start" menu.
