Instructions

  1. Uses

    • 1

Use Metamucil to treat occasional constipation. Metamucil, when used according to package directions, helps to relieve constipation. The active ingredient in Metamucil is psyllium fiber which, when used as part of a healthy diet, softens stool to allow it to pass more comfortably.

    • 2

Lower your cholesterol with Metamucil. Studies have shown that, when taken daily, the psyllium fiber in Metamucil can help to lower your cholesterol. To achieve the greatest results, 7 grams of soluble fiber must be consumed each day. This amount of soluble fiber can be found in three to four servings of Metamucil.

    • 3

Add soluble psyllium fiber to your diet with Metamucil powdered drink mixes. Mix Metamucil powder into 8 oz. of water according to package directions. Stir until the psyllium fiber powder has dissolved, then drink. Metamucil powdered drink mixes are available in a variety of flavors including Orange, Pink Lemonade and Berry Burst. All flavors are also available in sugar-free formulas.

    • 4

Get your daily dose of fiber with Metamucil fiber capsules. Each Metamucil fiber capsule is made of 100 percent natural psyllium and contains 2.4 grams of soluble fiber. Metamucil fiber capsules are available in bottles of 100, 160 and 300 capsules. For those interested in adding calcium to their diet, Metamucil Strong Bones capsules provide 30 percent of your recommended daily dose of calcium.

    • 5

Snack on some psyllium. For those who have trouble drinking the Metamucil powdered drinks or taking the Metamucil fiber capsules, the fiber-adding benefits of Metamucil are available in wafer form. Metamucil fiber wafers feature 6 grams of 100 percent natural fiber per dose and are available in Cinnamon and Apple flavors.
