How to Eat a Dragonfruit
Dragon fruit is a prickly, bright pink and green fruit that comes from several different types of cacti. This round fruit is grown in tropical climates and can be expensive in other parts of the world. Dragon fruit can be consumed raw, but eating the fruit can appear daunting because of its spiky skin and watery interior. Store the dragon fruit in the refrigerator for at least two hours to make sure it's thoroughly chilled.

Place the dragon fruit on its side on a cutting board and use a sharp knife to cut it in half width-wise. The knife should slide fairly easily through the skin. The flesh might spill juice on the cutting board as it splits, so make sure the fruit is being prepared in a cleared area.

Use the knife or a pair of scissors to snip away the sharp tips of the larger spines on the dragon fruit's skin. This will make the fruit easier to grip.

Hold half of the fruit in one hand and use a spoon to scoop the white, juicy flesh from the center. Place the scooped flesh in a bowl or eat it directly from the fruit. Repeat with the other half.

Discard the skin of the dragon fruit, as that part isn't edible.
