Several months after its release in 2007, Call of Duty 4 offered an expansion pack: the Variety Map Pack. This map pack included several new maps that were exclusive to Call of Duty 4's multiplayer component. These multiplayer maps are easy to download and install, and are a great addition to one of the highest-rated games of 2007.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

Turn on your console of choice and head to the marketplace area. If you are using an Xbox 360, go to the Xbox Live Marketplace from the dashboard. If you are using a PS3, scroll to the right side of the XMB and enter the PlayStation Network store.

  2. Step 2

Go to the "games" section (this works for both) and then search for Call of Duty 4. What you are looking for is the "Variety Map Pack Download." Press the A button on the Xbox 360 (or X on the PlayStation 3) to read more about the expansion pack and view payment details.

  3. Step 3

Add points to your account. The Call of Duty 4 Variety Map pack costs $10, which works out to 800 Microsoft Points or 1000 PlayStation network points. If you already have these points in your account, you can go ahead and select the "purchase" or "buy" option from the screen. If not, you will need to select the "add points" option from the menu. If you are using the PlayStation Network, you can also choose "pay with credit card."

  4. Step 4

Wait for your download to finish. Both consoles feature the ability to download the map pack in the background, so you can play another game or watch a video while it is finishing. If you are using the PlayStation 3, you will need to install the new map pack from the XMB once it has finished downloading by selecting it from the "Games" menu and pressing the X button. You cannot run the install in the background, but once the green bar has filled up, you will be done.

  5. Step 5

Put your Call of Duty 4 disc in your console. Once it boots up, enter the Multiplayer area. You should see your new maps there, and you can start playing with them immediately.
