Whenever a chemical spill occurs anywhere within the United States, the National Response Center, a federal organization, is responsible for gathering the information surrounding the spill. Not only does the NRC handle the reporting and statistics for all chemical spills, it is also responsible for dispatching investigators to the scene of the chemical spill for further analysis.

Instructions

1. Gather all of the details that you have concerning the chemical spill such as the time, date and location.

2. Visit the NRC website to report the chemical spill using its online reporting feature. If you do not have Internet access, you can call the NRC's toll free number, [phone], to report the spill.

3. Provide the NRC with the details of the incident. You will need to provide information such as the location of the chemical spill, your name and contact information, the name and contact information of the responsible party, and the location of the spill. Also indicate the type of spill. Was it antifreeze, oil, gasoline, etc.?

4. Speak with the NRC over the telephone after submitting your chemical spill report. The NRC promises to contact you within 30 minutes of you submitting the report. An official will provide you with a report number for your records.
