If you're tired of the Simlish music on the various radio stations available to your sims in The Sims 3, you can add your own MP3s to the game to listen to while you play. The game allows you to play any MP3 on the Custom Music station of your sims' radio.
Organize your MP3 files and copy them from their original folder to a separate folder, such as My Documents, for the time being. Do not simply move the files or you will lose them from the original folder.
Locate the Custom Music folder by going to My Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > Custom Music.
Move all of the MP3 files to your Custom Music folder.
Access the music in the game by having a sim turn the radio on and choose Custom Music as the station.
Tips & Warnings
- In the previous game, The Sims 2, it was possible to move your music into other Sims music folders, such as Build or Buy Mode. This is not possible in The Sims 3, because those music folders are no longer available. It is now only possible to have your custom music play on radios.
- The Custom Music channel in the game may not work properly if you remove the default custom music files from the Custom Music folder.
