-
Step 1
To start the bottom of the nose, draw two teardrop shapes facing one another and connect them with a curved line.
-
Step 2
Next, shade in the top half of the teardrops.
-
Step 3
Now use your tortillion or blending stump to blend the graphite from the top half of the teardrop down into the unshaded half.
-
Step 4
Very lightly outline the base of the nose.
-
Step 5
Now, blend the lines that you just drew with a stump or tortillion.
-
Step 6
With the graphite left on your tortillion, add more shadows around the wings of the nostrils.
-
Step 7
Now frame the nostrils with a darker line. Use the graphite remaining on the blending stump or tortillion to extend the nose bridge upwards.
-
Step 8
Still using the blending stump, add a V-shaped shadow near the top of the bridge of the nose. This is the area that frames the eyes. Now darken the shadows along the sides of the nose and blend until smooth.
-
Step 9
Now add a V-shaped shadow above the nostril line and a shadow beneath the nose. Pulling your kneadable eraser into a point, erase out a highlight on the tip of the nose.
-
Step 10
You now have now finished drawing a realistic nose. Touch up the picture and erase or blend any unwanted harsh lines.
