Memory Skills

To improve memory skills you have to work your brain. This may not be easy if you haven't been using it for a while. The brain is an organ and organs need to stay in good working order. Take the heart, for instance, it needs exercise to be healthy just as our brain does.

      Aging

Memory skills are something we use on a daily basis or else we wouldn't get anything done. We would forget everything! The brain is very powerful, but it, like anything else, can be reduced to nothing if we don't care for it properly. It's up to us to help our brain function to its maximum potential by actively pursing new activities and ideas.

When you first notice that your memory is slipping a bit this should give you a hint that you need to do something. Loss of memory is usually associated with the elderly or hormonal women. However, it can happen in younger people too, if they abuse their body and mind or get lazy in the thinking and doing process.

The first step is to do things on purpose also called techniques that improve memory skills. One such technique is very simple all you do is use the opposite hand that you usually use to do simple tasks. For example, if you answer the phone with your right hand switch it to the left. You can do this with everything you do and it will feel awkward, but you're improving your brain, so it's okay.

Another technique is to do something you've never done before this forces your mind work harder. It doesn't matter if it's physical, mental or both like yoga, pilates, chess, tennis, drawing art etc. You need to perform a hand brain connection that has never happened before.

      Be Peaceful

Learning is a key factor; you keep the brain actively learning by challenging it. The next exercise for improving memory skills is to do things with your eyes closed. For example, putting on a shirt, pants, shoes and socks without looking; feeling for tags, buttoning, zipping as if you're blind.

By the way, reading is one of the best things you can do to improve your memory, especially if you read to learn new things you don't know. Also, if you live in a peaceful environment it enhances brain function, so this means if you live a life full of drama and stress you will literally lose your mind.

      Exercise

Do puzzles this also helps memory skills and not only the kind you physically do, but word puzzles too. As you can see these techniques are not something we usually do, so we have to make an effort to do them or our poor brain won't get the exercise it needs. Then we will be saying stuff like, I can't remember anything, which I already do.

The last thing we need to do is some form of exercise this is very important. Think about it, the brain controls everything, so naturally if our body is working the brain has to work harder to keep everything coordinated properly. To be a healthy human being we must also be a human doing.
