As you probably know, there is no way to beat the house at it's own game. Casinos aren't built by people winning! However, there are some simple tricks you can use to reduce your net losses.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1
    A blackjack table

    A blackjack table

Try to play games that have higher returns like Blackjack (make sure it pays 3:2 when you get a blackjack), craps (make only pass line and free odds bets) or Baccarat (always bet on the banker.) Video poker is also a good choice if you can find a full-pay machine.

  2. Step 2
    A slot machine

    A slot machine

Avoid slot machines at all costs - not only because they generally have 7-10x worse returns than table games, but also because you have no way to tell what payback rate the specific machine is set to - so you have no idea what you're getting into.

  3. Step 3
    Avoid progressives!

    Avoid progressives!

If you really, really must play slots, then avoid machines with large progressive jackpots. Your chances of winning $1 million are better by starting blackjack betting $10 and doubling your money with every win.

  4. Step 4
    A player's club card

    A player's club card

Do join the player's club for your specific casino. The club generally comes with some kind of bonus, and you'll get free stuff if you play enough. Ask to be 'rated' at table games by laying down your card along with your cash when you're buying chips. Don't ask to be rated if you plan to be at the table for less than an hour.

  5. Step 5
    Save your money!

    Save your money!

Establish a holdback for your winnings. For example - lets say you sit down at a blackjack table with $200 and you get up 2 hours later with $300. Take half of your winnings - $50 - and put it back in your room safe. Don't touch it anymore this trip. Do this with half of all your winnings, and you'll walk away from your casino visit with at least part of what you came with, and still have some extra money to have fun with.
